ISLAMABAD: Controversial player Umar Akmal got a clean chit from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday regarding his presence at a dance party in Hyderabad.
“Umar Akmal has been cleared of all charges in the light of a police report,” a PCB source said. “He has been directed to remain careful in future.”
According to reports, Umar Akmal has been added to the national Twenty20 squad which would take on England in the upcoming Twenty20 series in UAE.
Earlier this week, Umar Akmal was dropped from the T20 squad and served with a show-cause notice over media reports that he had attended a dance party in Hyderabad during a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match. Akmal denied the charges and pleaded innocence.
Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi, however, backed his teammate, saying that the issue was blown out of proportion. – SAMAA
