RAWALPINDI: A 20 year girl was killed after being allegedly raped within the precincts of Rawat Police station, a senior official said on Saturday.
The police said Tehmina, a resident of Chakwal and Umair hailing from Vehari, had developed a friendship on social networking website Facebook and both were preparing to appear in CSS exam before the incident.
“Umair was taken into custody on the charges of rape and murder and further investigation was underway.” the official said.
The police further said the suspect was arrested in injured condition, without elaborating on how could possibly the accused have suffered wounds.
The police said,the girl belonging to Chakwal had arrived in Ralwalpindi three days before her death. She, they claimed, had informed her parents though telephone that the boy was forcing her to marry.
The suspect, however, claimed that he was married to Tehmina. The parents of the girl had rejected his claim.
The body was taken to a hospital for postmortem examination to confirm cause of the death. An official at the District Headquarters Hospital said the deceased had sustained severe head injuries that might have caused the death.-Samaa
