130 suspects detained; four ‘terrorists’ killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Following a fresh wave of violence in Karachi, Rangers and police eliminated four alleged terrorists and rounded up more than 130 suspected criminals in the city during last 24 hours, Samaa reported Sunday.


According to our correspondent, the alleged terrorists were killed in an encounter with the paramilitary forces near Northern Bypass, on the outskirts of Karachi.


In more than 25 intelligence-driven raids of Rangers and police since Saturday, the law-enforcers detained 131 suspected criminals from Orangi, Lyari, Korangi, Azam Basti, Frontier Colony, Lines Area, Shah Faisal Colony, Safoora Goth and other areas.


“Politically-backed criminals and banned outfit militants involved in target-killing, extortion, kidnappings and other criminal activities were among those detained,” an official told Samaa.


On Friday, four Rangers men were gunned down in an ambush in Baldia Town, followed by death of five people in sporadic violence the next day. – Samaa
