Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister not only did recount the development projects his government had embarked on but also went on to severally criticized his previous rulers for halting the process of progress.

He said the previous rulers gave the country a recipe for destruction by halting its progress. “Previous governments didn’t even provide electricity, let alone motorway,” he said. The prime minister said situation had aggravated in all the sectors after his ouster in 1999.

He said the people took revenge for the injustice meted out to them by the previous rulers through vote.

After assuming power, he said, his government improved the country’s economic as well as law and order situation. He said now the electricity was being supplied uninterruptedly.

The prime minister said work on Karachi motorway, power projects and Gwadar airport was underway. “Now people will be able to reach Karachi from Multan within seven hours,” he said, adding that he had to face severe criticism when he first decided to build motorway.

He said the terrorism has also receded as compared to past due to his government’s bold decisions. “We initiated an operation in Karachi for peace,” he said.-Samaa
