SAWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would help his party win next general election in the country.

Speaking at a rally where Awami Jamhuri Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) leader and provincial health minister Shahram Tarakai announced to merge his party into PTI, Khan said he would not even need to run an election campaign before the next general election as he was confident that Pervez Khattak’s “good performance” will help PTI win the polls.

“Hospitals in KP are the best in Pakistan, we do have completely neutral police, and it was KP where country’s first independent accountability cell was established,” he said.

“We will never beg for foreign loans… instead of imposing taxes, we will spend money on people,” Khan said, adding that all the political parties had formed an alliance against the PTI.

Khan demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to build the small route of the Pakistan China Corridor first to connect Balochistan with rest of Pakistan.

“Neglecting the small route will be a cruelty,” he said, urging the government to give KPK its share of natural gas, which the province was deprived of.

Speaking on the occassion, Shahram Khan Tarakai said that the manifesto of both parties were same therefore they have decided to merge their party into PTI.

The Swabi-based AJIP, which come into existence in 2010 at a time when PTI’s popularity was rising, succeeded in winning three provincial and one National Assembly seats from Swabi. Later an independent MPA from Shangla Abdul Munam joined AJIP. -Samaa/APP
